The House & Gardens

The Doherty House & Gardens, perfectly situated in the heart of Clare Michigan, is an an ideal space for families and friends to build lasting memories together.

With a beautifully landscaped backyard and serene surroundings, we are the perfect space for small to medium sized events and garden parties. We offer full assistance with set up and tear down of the garden space and carriage house, and take care of the small details so you can enjoy your guests. You can self-cater with our support, or work with us and our catering partners to ensure a successful event.

For indoor events in the colder months, spacious living areas that can accommodate up to 35 people with large rooms downstairs provide great space for being together without feeling crowded.

The first floor of consists of a living room (yes, there is a working piano!) and den with with cozy furnishings, dining room, a half bath, and a fully equipped kitchen.

We are happy to help in serving your guests so you can spend more time enjoying the party!

The town

Located in a small town of approximately 3,500, the Doherty House & Gardens is on the main street only a block from the heart of the city. There is always something going on in our little town!

Before or after hosting your event at the Doherty House & Gardens is a great opportunity for you and your guests to venture out to the quaint shops in historic downtown. We’re on North McEwan St and a block from the Doherty Hotel, famous for many things, including their spectacular pub and menu. The well-known Cops & Doughnuts shop is 3 blocks away, as are many other great eateries. Jay’s Sporting Goods is 2 miles away and CMU is 14 miles away.

Overnight stays are available at the Doherty Hotel, and many vacation rental properties very close to the house. We’re happy to provide more information on these options to help you build a perfect getaway!
